A Week in Texas Part 3

Monday The Monday of my trip home just happened to be Labor Day. I don`t remember the last time I was home for a Labor Day cookout. Since it was a holiday my sister Melinda and her kids were able to stay in our hometown until Monday evening, which I loved. My other sister Trista came over to my dad`s house with her kids for lunch and we just hung out outside while lunch was being prepared. Here are some of my favorite shots from that day: We started the day with leftover baby shower cupcakes for breakfast! Alaina asked her mom to shove her face into the cupcake. She`s such a goofy girl. See what I mean about her being goofy?! My 2 nieces: Alaina age 9 and Ellison age 1 1/2. Alaina was so happy to hear that I`m having a girl. Ellison loves to dance! Weston just loves to be wild. Beckhem  rarely stands still, but this was one shot I was able to get of him looking kind of sweet. We decided to go outside and enjoy the cool da...

A Week in Texas Part 2

Sunday Sunday started off with breakfast with some family who were in from out of town, I supposed technically I fit into that category as well. We met at a buffet restaurant, which I had no idea does breakfast, but they do on the weekends, and it was pretty tasty! My aunt and me before breakfast.  My uncle and me before breakfast. He was heading on a motorcycle ride afterward. After breakfast we headed back to my dad`s house to start cleaning and preparing for my baby shower. When I found out I was going to get to go home the first thing my sister Melinda said was that she would like to have a baby shower for me if there was time. I was so happy because they don`t typically do baby showers here in Japan. Although some of my close friends know that it`s a custom in the States and a couple of people have mentioned having one. I don`t know if that will pan out though. I am actually not sure of the custom here, but I know when my friends have had babies in the last fe...

A Week in Texas Part 1

From August 28 I went to Texas to see my family for a week! My dad`s family had a family reunion on the 31st of August. It was only planned about a month before and as soon as I saw the Facebook event page I really wanted to go. However, since we have a child on the way, I decided to be responsible and miss it. Then, one of my uncles sent me a message and asked if I would come home for the reunion if he and some other relatives could get the money together for a ticket! So I talked it over with my husband and he said if the doctor said it was ok for me to fly then I could go. At my regularly scheduled appointment, I consulted my doctor and he said I was at just the right place in my pregnancy to be flying. I was beyond ecstatic to know I`d be going home in less than a month. Usually I plan for several months ahead for a trip home and countdown. This was one of the shortest trips I`ve had home in ages. I left Kagoshima on Thursday morning and arrived in Texas on Thursday afternoon ...
